Medicare FAQ

Common questions

When does the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period begin?
Medicare AEP typically runs October 15 through December 7 each year. During this period, Medicare beneficiaries can make changes to their Medicare Advantage or Part D plans. Check Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE for the most current information.
Am I eligible to enroll in Medicare?
If you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident and you are 65 or older, or if you are under 65 and have certain qualifying disabilities, you are generally eligible to enroll in Medicare.
How do I enroll in Medicare?
You can enroll through the Social Security Administration — online, by phone, or in person. Initial enrollment is typically around your 65th birthday: three months before, your birthday month, through three months after. If you miss this window, other periods apply but may carry penalties.
Medicare Advantage vs Medicare Supplement — which is better?
Neither is universally "better." Advantage plans often have lower premiums and extra benefits but require using the plan's network. Supplement plans have higher premiums but let you see any Medicare-accepting provider. The right choice depends on your doctors, your medications, how often you travel, and your budget. We walk through it with you.
